Specifically, Chaney will acquire the locally owned TW Block ready-mix concrete, masonry, and aggregate materials business located in Onley, Virginia in the lower Chesapeake and Virginia Eastern Shore region.

The acquired assets also include the operations of a fourth terminal in the Mid-Atlantic region. The T&W Block Barge Terminal off the South Branch Onancock Creek is expected to increase the opportunities to barge construction materials of high demand into the Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach region.

Chaney says this will add to its current transportation hubs such as the Chesapeake Barge Terminal in Chesapeake, the Sussex Barge Terminal in Seaford, Delaware, and Waldorf Rail Terminal in Waldorf, Maryland.

The company is purchasing TW Block & Concrete from president Genevieve Walker and chief financial officer Wendy Walker. All  25 TW Block employees will continue to greet customers. Tammy Hill will lead sales, service and dispatching.

Genevieve Walker says: “We are happy to be able to provide more resources for our valued employees, customers, and friends by putting them in the hands of a larger family-owned company.”
