Elkon concrete plants are playing a key role in the building of the new US$4.3mn terminal building at Kuwait International Airport – which will serve over 25 million passengers a year on the project’s completion.

Two of the Turkish manufacturer’s Elkomix-135 Quick Master compact concrete batching plants are being used by 1506 Limak Construction to produce concrete for the earmarked four-year project, which requires 1 million m³ of concrete and over 100,000tonnes of steel. The new terminal build aims to become the first airport-related works to be awarded a LEED Gold certificate for its consideration of energy and environmental issues.

Elkomix-135 Quick Master compact concrete mixing plants are equipped with separate weigh hopper for ice, microsilica and binding material (GGBS) in addition to cement, water and chemical additive weigh hoppers. The plants’ precise advanced automation system ensures the production of high quality concrete.

Highly wear resistant special alloy mixing paddles and linings are used in the Elkomix-135’s twin shaft mixer. They have been developed by Elkon’s innovation team to ensure the plant’s high durability and longest lifetime in the intensive and continuous production associated with the Kuwait International Airport terminal works. The twin shaft mixer also comes with a washout system that can be operated by the touch of a button.
