The equipment from Italy-based IMER Group will be used in the production of high quality and reinforced concrete for infrastructure and housing construction projects in Uzebekistan that start from 2019.
The agreement was signed by representatives from Ahangaharacement, a member of the Eurocement group, and Nihol Impeks, a subsidiary of Imer Group in Uzbekistan.
Eurocement has a production hub at Ahangara in Uzbekistan and the group is investing US200million to develop the site.
On October 17, on the eve of the state visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan, a foundation stone was laid for a new plant at Ahangara that will, have a capacity of 3 million tonnes of cement per year. The Ahangara hub will also become a platform for making mineral wool products and other building materials for use both in Uzbekistan and export.
In the first nine months of 2018, the Ahangaracement site produced 1,443,149 tonnes of cement and 1,044,028 tonnes of clinker. This is 1.8% (25,449 tonnes) and 2.9% (29,147 tonnes) respectively more than in the same period last year.
