Euro Auctions says that the Spanish market has “embraced the used plant auction concept to such an extent” that it has expanded its Valencia team with the appointment of two new country sales managers.

Italmobiliare, the Italian investment holding that controls cement company Italcementi, has posted a turnover of €2.6 billion for the first half of 2011, compared to a turnover of €2.57 billion in the same period of 2010.

Cemex’s consolidated net sales increased by 5% during the third quarter of 2011 to approximately US$3.9billion (approximately €2.75billion) compared to the comparable period in 2010. Operating EBITDA increased by 1% during the third quarter of 2011 to $658million (€465million) versus the same period in 2010.

Despite an income fall of 32%, Holcim is pinning its hopes for consistent growth in the emerging markets of Latin America and Asia. The company's third quarter results show that income fell by nearly 32% to CHF418 million (approximately €339 million) in the third quarter from CHF612 million (€497 million) in the second quarter of 2011.

Used equipment auctioneer Iron Planet has strengthened its operations in Europe with the appointment of a new sales director for the Northern Europe region. The company has appointed Simon Rodgers to take on the territory which covers UK, Ireland, Germany, Benelux, Scandinavia, Central & Eastern Europe. Rodgers joins the company from Volvo London Truck and Bus where he was sales director. He has also worked for JCB, Daimler Chrysler and Toyota.
