Astec Industries has announced plans to cease production at its Telsmith manufacturing facility in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Astec says the decision to close the Telsmith facility follows a desire to simplify and focus business units and develop product lines on a company-wide basis.
The company says that it also wants "to boost efficiencies within the materials solutions group, consolidate operations and become more flexible in production capabilities to meet customer demand".
Barry Ruffalo, CEO of Astec Industries, says: "Our decision to close Telsmith was not an easy one, but we feel it is necessary for the continued growth of Astec.
"We are incredibly proud of the strong brand and innovative products we have built with Telsmith, and I want to assure our customers that we will continue to grow the brand.”
The Telsmith product lines will continue to be developed and manufactured at other Astec locations.
Customers will still be able to purchase new equipment and continue to be supported with parts and service through the Astec direct and dealer channels.
The gradual closing of the Telsmith facility take place over the coming year, and should be complete by 31 March 2021.
