The township Committee of Bernard has voted 4-1 to reverse the course and revoke the designation of the Millington Quarry as a redevelopment area. Mayor John Carpenter, commenting on the unpopular plan, described it as “too aggressive” – according to a report by MyCentralJersey.com.
Residents gathered for an hour in the auditorium of Ridge High School to tell committee members that it is now time to start over the process of what to do with quarry.
The redevelopment plan would have seen the quarry off Stonehouse road developed with housing, a hotel, restaurants, a farm, stores and a lake that would fill the deepest pit on the property.
