CarbonCure has announced that Breckenridge Materials and Eastern Missouri Concrete are teaming up to use its technology and to remove barriers to building greener in St. Louis Area.
Through the partnership, Breckenridge Material Company and Eastern Missouri Concrete now recycle waste carbon dioxide (CO2) into concrete to increase its environmental, material, and economic performance. CO2 is both permanently converted into a solid material within the concrete as well as improving its compressive strength, which allows producers to optimize their mix designs to unlock operational cost savings.
Nathan McKean, CEO, said: “Leading the market by adopting technology is part of the Breckenridge legacy. Technologies like CarbonCure align with where we see the marketing going in the long term while aligning with our immediate operational objectives.”
Patrick O’Brien, Director of Technical Services, said: “A barrier for sustainable construction methods is typically higher upfront costs. By introducing affordable sustainable solutions to the St. Louis area, we believe that we can actually push the market to go greener and help accelerate the adoption of greener construction in our community”.
