Thomas Concrete adopts CarconCure across 16 more plants

January 10, 2018

Thomas Concrete (TC) will install CarbonCure's (CC's) retrofit technology into 16 ready mix concrete plants in early 2018 to recycle waste CO2 into concrete to increase its environmental, material, and economic performance. It is CC's leading partner producing and now has a total of 22 plants using this technology.

The addition of CO2 into concrete is also said to improve it compressive strength, which has allowed TC to optimize mix designs to unlock operational efficiency while reducing its carbon footprint.

John Cook, technical director of TC USA, said: “Thomas Concrete aims to consistently deliver the best products and high-quality service that our customers have come to expect. By adding CarbonCure’s technology into 16 more locations, we’re simultaneously reducing our environmental footprint and providing our customers with access to an affordable greener building product across our US markets.”

Alan Wessel, CEO of TC USA, said: “TC is pleased to work with a technology that works with our existing equipment and mixes to unlock operational efficiencies while having a positive environmental impact,” says Alan Wessel, CEO of Thomas USA. “Thomas’ growth has been maneuvered by prioritizing consistent quality for our customers and using CarbonCure’s technology really aligns with that.”
