Caterpillar unveils new 'modern hex' logo for its machines

October 18, 2018

Caterpillar is replacing the logo of several products with a new ‘Cat Modern Hex’ image, according to a report by Peoria Public Radio.

The design adds a three-dimensional red hexagon and grill pattern to the traditional Caterpillar trademark and product names.

According to the report, the logo was designed by Caterpillar’s industrial design group and the red hexagon relates to the 1925 graphics used to promote the company’s first crawler tractors.

Ed Stembridge, product identity manager, says the design is a visual reminder of Caterpillar’s product quality.

The image or trade dress will appear on the Deerfield-based machines, engines, work tools and generator sets.
