Cemex has released the 27th edition of its nature and conservation series to illustrate the need to harness the potential of natural ecosystems and mitigate climate change.
Cemex says Nature's Solutions to Climate Change focuses on the importance of forests, mangroves and peatlands to achieve greater carbon emissions reduction.
Vicente Saiso, corporate director of sustainability of Cemex, says: "With the 27th edition of our Conservation Book Series, Nature's Solutions to Climate Change, we alert our global audience to the urgent need to conserve, protect, and rehabilitate our natural ecosystems so they maximise their potential to store CO2. With global emissions still on the rise, this volume emphasizes the critical need to harness the full potential of natural solutions to mitigate climate change effectively,”
Fernando A. Gonzalez, CEO of Cemex, says: “Currently, we know that intact ecosystems store more carbon safely and in the long term because they are more resilient. These days, global leaders are gathered at the COP25 Climate Summit in Madrid, engaged in very real discussions to address the effects of climate change and to fulfill the commitments we all set as signatories to the Paris Agreement. That is why this year’s book is of such immediate importance, as it underscores the considerable potential of natural ecosystems to fight climate change.”
This year's book is published in conjunction with Conservation International, Global Wildlife Conservation, Sea Legacy and Wild Heritage.
