Cemex has received the Ramazzini & Carvalho Award for its urban transformation resilience strategy at the Arise Mexico Forum: Resilience for all.
The company says it received the award for its urban transformation resilience strategy and its products and services that contribute to building resilient societies.
Cemex participated in the forum by promoting sustainability and corporate responsibility to generate value for interest groups that foster the development of a more resilient environment. The company is also seeking to promote a sustainable future through various multisectoral projects, strategies and alliances.
Mami Mizutori, special representative of the United Nations Secretary for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), says: “Strategic allies such as Cemex have allowed us to create the Arise MX National Network, which through its leadership, currently represents one of the most committed networks to people's lives and security, as well as to the protection of businesses in the country.”
Martha Herrera, director of corporate social responsibility at Cemex, says: “A comprehensive disaster risk management strategy—involving our employees, communities, national and local governments, academia, civil society organisations, and multilateral organisations—is the best way to promote people’s integrity and wellbeing. The impact of disasters can be prevented.”
