CMI premiers new 250 tonnes per hour asphalt plant

March 13, 2020

CMI has unveiled its new and upgraded Cedarapids Magnum 250 counterflow drum-mix asphalt plant, a highly portable machine that can produce 250tonnes per hour (tph) of asphalt and offer users a 35% reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) recycling capability.

New upgrades on the Magnum 250 include high efficiency drying & mixing zones, railroad-bearing trunnion roller assemblies, direct drive gearmotors, and drum insulation & cladding as standard.

Installation is quick due to a large full-width chassis support pad assemblies. These distribute the load evenly, minimising site foundations and craneage.

CMI marketing manager Kevin Smith said the new plant is chiefly aimed at North American customers. The company also used CONEXPO-CON/AGG to display an E3-300 RAP-Star 300 tph portable counterflow drum-mixer, which is capable of up to 50% RAP recycling. CMI says the plant is popular in the European market.
