Granite announces new chairman of the board and director

Granite has appointed Claes Bjork as chairman of the board of directors and Jeffrey Lyash as a director to support its ongoing growth strategy.

Bjork retired as chief executive officer of Skanska in 2002. Prior to that, he served in a range of executive and management positions within the company and was also chairman of Scancem Cement.

Lyash currently serves on the board of directors for Ontario Power Generation, Electric Power Research Institute, World Association of Nuclear Operators-Atlanta Center, Canadian Electricity Association, Nuclear Energy Institute, Plug’n Drive, Terrestrial Energy and Holtec International.

Additionally, he has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Drexel University and was honoured with its Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2009. Lyash has held a senior reactor operator license from the NRC and has graduated from the US Office of Personnel Management Executive Training programme. He is also a graduate at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business Advanced Management Programme and the University of Toronto Rotman School of Business Corporate Director Programme.
