The Portland Cement Association (PCA) has announced this year’s John P. Gleason Jr Leadership Awards, which recognize individuals who have “exhibited leadership in association activities in support of member company objectives and operations".
The awards were presented at the PCA Congress in Chicago in three categories: business continuity, market development, and young leaders.
The winner in the business continuity category was Daniel Nugent, senior vice president, technical services and government affairs, at Buzzi Unicem USA.
Nugent was recognized for his “key leadership role in industry regulatory and legislative initiatives, including greenhouse gas emissions, and other significant issues that impact cement manufacturing operations.”
Matthew Wood, sustainable products and promotion Manager at Ash Grove Cement Company won the market development category. Wood was cited for his promotion of cement-based products at the national and local level, such as roller-compacted concrete and dull-depth reclamation paving solutions.
In the young leaders category, Ruben Guerrero Jr, director of corporate affairs at Salt River Materials Group, was acknowledged for his active engagement in PCA’s network of public polity and communications committees, “helping the industry navigate important issues affecting the business of making cement.”
Founded in 1916, the PCA is the national organisation, representing US cement producers.
