The Slag Cement Association (SCA) will host an educational session on the 28 March at the American Concrete Institute's Spring Convention, in Utah. The course will demonstrate how slag cement has boosted concrete performance, the usefulness of the product in content in concrete and provide an insight into how it was used to upgrade a 100-year-old cement plant.
Called Using Slag Cement to Elevate Concrete Performance, the second half of the session will present the 2017 Slag Cement Project of the Year awards. It will provide an overview of the nine winning projects for architectural design, durability, green design, high performance, innovative applications and sustainability.
Representatives from the winning teams will receive plaques and recognition. SCA will also host all of the projects on its website as case study examples of outstanding use of slag cement in concrete.
Ed Griffith, President of the SCA, said:“This session provides a great look at the versatility and durability of slag cement. The SCA’s annual Awards Program provides great case studies highlighting the many different applications of slag cement as well.”
