A planned explosion at a quarry in Rhode Island town sent granite flying into a truck and injured two employees of Westerly’s Public Works Department – according to a report by Associated Press.
Authorities confirmed one of the victims suffered head trauma and was kept in hospital overnight while the other was treated and released.
Mark Rooney, interim town manager says the workers stopped alongside a road near the blast site to make a phone call when hit by flying debris. An investigation is being carried out to determine what happened.
