Ireland-based CRH and its US subsidiary must divest Rocky Gap quarry as a condition for its proposed acquisition of Pounding Mill Quarry – says the US justice department.
According to a report by the Irish Times: “The divestiture of the Virginia quarry is intended to preserve local competition in the supply of aggregate and asphalt concrete, the department said in a statement.”
Makan Delrahim, assistant attorney general of the antitrust division, says the proposal would lead to CRH owning nearly all the aggregates quarries that supply southern West Virginia.
