Volvo Construction Equipment and Lego Technic has developed an autonomous concept wheel loader in a bid to design a construction machine of the future. Called Zeux, the machine is navigated by a mapping drone and features adjustable camera boom mounted on top of the vehicle which is called the Eye.
A focus group of children chose these features by providing feedback on a Lego model version of the wheel loader.
Volvo CE says the project made it possible to test ideas for new types of construction machines and bring a more human aspect to the artificial intelligence in these vehicles.
The construction of the Volvo Concept Wheel Loader Zeux started at an informal team building event to inspire both companies’ design teams in 2016.
