The Winnebago County Board has delayed making a decision on a proposed asphalt plant at a meeting attended by Rockton residents. According to 23 WIFR: “In order for the board to vote on the asphalt plant, they had to unanimously vote to suspend the board rules because the plant is a zoning matter.”
The report says board member Gary Jury was the only one to vote against suspending those rules, which postpones the asphalt measure until the next meeting on 14 June. He states time is needed to pour over the most recent proposal from Northern Illinois Services Company.
"Mr Webster, our Chairman of Zoning, has told us time and time again that we should not suspend the rules when something needs to be laid over. Mr Wilson is not here tonight. I don't know how he was going to vote. I don't know how anyone was going to vote”, Jury adds.
