As part of the company’s Diversity and Inclusion Programme, the new policy will offer mothers 18 weeks’ full pay during their maternity leave, as well as a six-week, return-to-work bonus, so 24 weeks in total, and fathers will now receive two weeks’ fully-paid paternity leave.
James Roberts, organisation & human resources director at Aggregate Industries, said: “To truly increase gender diversity in our organisation and our management teams, we realise that we need to take proactive steps to support women and men through the different stages of their careers. This is why we have launched this new Policy, which we hope will aid retention, recruitment and promotion.”
Aggregate Industries continues to invest in its Diversity and Inclusion Programme in order to ensure a more balanced workforce – with a particular focus on attracting more women. Currently, the business’s workforce population is made up of 84% males and 16% females. However, as part of a wider diversity and inclusion strategy, Aggregate Industries is committed to achieving a 20% gender balance by 2020, and a 30% gender balance by 2030.
