Construction materials and infrastructure company 1707 Aggregate Industries has renewed its membership with the 5% Club.

The 5% Club is comprised of UK employers across a range of industries who aspire to achieve 5% of their workforce in ‘earn and learn’ positions (including apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formalised training schemes) within five years of joining.

Having signed the Club’s charter, Aggregates Industries says it has committed to playing its part in addressing youth unemployment and skills shortages. The company is pledging to work towards having a minimum 5% of its UK workforce enrolled on formalised apprentice, student and/or graduate development schemes within five years.

James Roberts, organisation & human resources director at Aggregate Industries, comments: “As a company, our goals are very much aligned with the 5% Club’s aims, which is why we felt it was important to continue to join forces with like-minded organisations and further commit to investing in and equipping the country with the skilled workforce it needs to safeguard Britain’s economy.”

The 5% Club has more than 320 member businesses, including large corporations as well as SMEs.
