Cemex Latvia merges subsidiary

Cemex Latvia has announced that it has merged its operation with its quarrying subsidiary Sauleskalna Karjers. Cemex has said that the administration of both companies has already been merged and Sauleskalna Karjers production is currently being restructured.

Latvia: Cemex loss, but investment high

Latvia's cement producer Cemex posted a turnover was €86.9 million for 2014, nearly unchanged year-on-year (2013: €87.08 million).

The company's net loss was €1.8 million which was due to the effect of the mandatory procurement component for electricity in Latvia, as well as interest and depreciation related to €290 million investment in the Broceni cement factory.

Cemex generated a €4.84 million profit in 2013, up from the suffered loss of €14.18 million in 2012.

CEMEX sells Baltics and Nordics assets to SCHWENK

CEMEX announced that it will sell its assets in the Baltics and Nordics to the German building materials group SCHWENK for around €340 million.

Baltic assets being divested consist of one cement production plant in Broceni with a production capacity of around 1.7 million tonnes, four aggregates quarries, two cement quarries, six ready-mix plants, one marine terminal and one land distribution terminal in Latvia.

Also to be sold is CEMEX’s 38% indirect interest in one cement production plant in Akmene,
