The advanced facility, at Harwell Science Campus in Oxfordshire, central England, is set to open its doors by 2021 – a year ahead of schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Hanson is providing around 2,000 cubic metres of concrete for the groundworks package.
“We are working flat out to manage the accelerated requirements of the construction programme,” said regional director James Moorhouse.
“It’s been testing, but we’ve managed to get supplies out at short notice and will continue to play our part in delivering this nationally significant project so it can begin operations as quickly as possible.”
Following the completion of the groundworks, the 75,000 square foot VMIC, designed by WHP Engineering, is expected to be ready for early fit-out in the summer.
