Italcementi inaugurates 23,000m² research centre

Italian cement manufacturer Italcementi has inaugurated a new 23,000m² research centre in the technology park of Bergamo, near Milan. The group allocated an annual budget of around €13 million in research and development operations, and has registered a total 60 patents in the last ten years.

Italian cement manufacturer 726 Italcementi has inaugurated a new 23,000m² research centre in the technology park of Bergamo, near Milan.

The group allocated an annual budget of around €13 million in research and development operations, and has registered a total 60 patents in the last ten years.

The company's innovation rate went from 3.9 to 4 between 2009 and 2011, as planned, and is expected to reach 5 in a medium long-term period.

The total cost will be of €40 million.

Italcementi plans to cut costs by €100 million in 2012, having already saved around €750 million in the last four years.
