The UK’s 2897 Mineral Products Association (MPA) says it has noted the 2839 Office of Fair Trading (OFT) decision to refer the Great Britain aggregates, ready-mixed concrete and cement markets to the Competition Commission for investigation.

It says it will continue to cooperate fully with the competition authorities, as it has to date.

“We hope the investigation is carried out without undue delay and does not impose excessive costs on our members whose markets are still operating 30% below pre recession levels,” says the MPA, the trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, lime, mortar and silica sand industries.

The organisation, with the recent addition of The 1829 British Precast Concrete Federation (BPCF), has a growing membership of 429 companies and is the sectoral voice for mineral products.
