Bill Brett, chairman of the
Nigel Jackson, chief executive MPA, paid tribute to Dyfrig’s contribution to MPA over the last two years saying: “Members have appreciated Dyfrig’s inclusive approach and the efforts he has made to engage with all parts of the MPA, particularly in the regions and of course his beloved Wales. Dyfrig has continued the tradition of communicating how it is possible to take a wider sectoral view for the good of all companies. MPA would like to thank Dyfrig for all his efforts and wish Bill Brett every success for his two year tenure.”
Bill Brett, whose construction and building materials group is one of the largest independents in the UK, said: “I am proud to take over the role of chairman from Dyfrig, and am keen to contribute as fully as I can to the association and its activities over the next two years. I am passionate about strengthening the unity of this great sector which is so important to the UK and the recovery.”
The MPA is the trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, dimension stone, lime, mortar and silica sand industries. With the recent addition of The
MPA membership is made up of the vast majority of independent SME companies throughout the UK, as well as the nine major international and global companies. It covers 100% of GB cement production, 90% of aggregates production and 95% of asphalt and ready-mixed concrete production and 70% of precast concrete production. Each year the industry supplies £9 billion (€10.6 billion) of materials and services to the £120 billion (€141.4 billion) construction and other sectors. Industry production represents the largest materials flow in the UK economy and is also one of the largest manufacturing sectors.
