The company was selected by Outotec, a Finnish contractor which is delivering the new copper concentrator facility in Chelyabinsk for ZAO Miheevsky – a subsidiary of the
Scheduled to begin production in early 2014, the scheme will process 18 million tonnes of copper ore per year from an open-pit ore mine. The concentrate produced at the plant will go on to be smelted and refined into pure copper.
Weir Minerals is supplying 60 pumps, 95 valves and six cyclone clusters (large units used to separate particles from slurry).
The contract is the biggest Weir Minerals has secured with a Finnish client this year.

To guarantee customer service across the region, Weir Minerals opened its first servicing base in Finland in March this year.
