The Angolan Technical Department for Private Investment (UTIP) has signed an agreement with Chinese company Shaanxi Aoxinang.

It involves the installation of a concrete production plant in Luanda with an investment estimated at US$1 million (€899,979.11).

It is said that the plant, with a capacity of 40,000m³ of concrete, will initially produce some 21,200m³, and will create 140 jobs.

In Nepal, which has 40 cement factories, cement producers are said to be looking at ways of obtaining self-sufficiency.

The producers, seeking help to improve extraction and transport of the necessary raw materials such as better infrastructure and a stable electricity supply, also want to boost exports.

Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, the Nigerian Minister of Science & Technology, says that research is being conducted to look at cement production for use in concrete road construction.

Because of the way some roads constructed, the asphalt used gets damaged, and production of indigenous cement for roads has become a necessity, the Minister is reported as saying.
