Lafarge Cement to spend US$5 million on Zimbabwe plant upgrades

In 2015, Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe (Lafarge Cement) will spend another US$5 million (€4.43 million) on plant upgrades.

The proposal has been approved by its parent company, France-based Lafarge Group.

The plant upgrades will increase the cement maker's volume from 390,000 tonnes of cement/year at present, to 500,000 tonnes.

In 2014, the company had announced its plans to spend up to US$15 million on upgrading its milling plant.
