Italcementi targets M East, sub-Saharan Africa and Asia growth

Italian cement producer Italcementi's CEO Carlo Pesenti said that the company is particularly interested in growth opportunities in the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Talking to the Il Corriere della Sera newspaper in Italy, Pesenti also said that the firm had seen large structural changes during the global economic crisis. He said that after the takeover of Ciment Francais, Italcementi is “ready and reactive” when looking at market opportunities.

Financing costs rise hits Italcementi H1 2014 turnover

A sharp rise in financing costs is said to be behind Italcementi's turnover decline of 6% to €2.048.4 billion in H1 2014. The running Ebitda improved by 2.2% to €304.8 million helped by a 6.2% reduction in the amortisation and depreciation charge, while the trading profit improved by 27.7% to €99.8 million.
