448 Metso has signed a contract with Teck Carmen de Andacollo Mining Company in Chile to supply wear protection material to its ball mill in Carmen de Andacollo.

The contract also includes installation services. The complete value of the order exceeds €837,534

According to the new contract Metso will supply 150 mill linings to Carmen de Andacollo’s ball mill. The contract also covers works related with linings installation.

“We are very pleased to work in this project: these linings are a new product, and they decrease the weight of the lining, making a lighter mill,” says Luis Palominos, South Cone technical manager of Mill Lining Mining and Construction, Metso.
Metso’s equipment deliveries to Carmen de Andacollo project will be completed within the third quarter of 2012.

The total project delivery comprises 150 duoblock mill linings, each weighing with 833kg, which means 54% less weight than steel linings on cylinder, and 41% less weight on feeders and discharge doors.

Teck is a diversified resource company with business focused on copper, steel-making coal, zinc and energy. It has operations in North and South America, and exploration projects on South Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. Carmen de Andacollo exploits copper and gold in concentrate and copper cathode.
