Hanson Cement doubles workforce at Wales plant

Hanson Cement has doubled the workforce at its cement plant in north Wales to around 100, compared with just 50 during the recession. An investment of €1.5 million in a new packaging line is underway, while plans to further increase output and bring a mothballed rail link back into service are said by the firm to be under consideration. Hanson said it is benefiting from the ‘booming’ UK housing and construction sectors. The plant at Padeswood employed more than 180 workers at its peak.
