Norway starts 850km road asphalt paving programme

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen) has announced that asphalt paving of national roads and county roads in the country’s Eastern Region has begun. In all, 850 kilometres of national and county roads in Østfold, Oslo, Akershus, Hedmark and Oppland will be paved with asphalt in the summer of 2015. NCC and Veidekke accused of cartel activity

New Norwegian asphalt type for heavy transport

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen) is in process of developing a new type of asphalt with more fine stone that better endures heavy transport.

It is said that the size of the stone used can be reduced to 8mm, compared 16mm which is the maximum size in many asphalts used today. This can also help reduce the particle levels that are released into the atmosphere.
