Chinese construction equipment giant
More than 50 senior executives attended the signing ceremony and forum staged at ICBC Indonesia’s City Tower in Jakarta. The notable attendees included, among others, Wang Liping, Counsellor of Economic and Commercial Counsellor's Office of Chinese Embassy in Indonesia; Dr Rizal Ramli, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs; Shen Xiaoqi, ICBC Indonesia Chairman; Liu Jiansen, XCMG’s Assistant President and General Manager; and representatives from China’s enterprises in Indonesia, including the China Railway Construction Corporation, China Road and Bridge Corporation, and the China Harbour Engineering Company.
As part of the Road and Belt Initiative, China’s large enterprises are keen to work with senior Indonesian business and governmental figures to aid the construction of Indonesia with China’s construction machines.
At the forum, Jiansen introduced XCMG’s latest achievements in different countries and regions. He also stressed how XCMG’s annual revenue exceeds RMB 100 billion and US$2.3 billion from overseas markets. Currently, XCMG’s mobile crane is said by the company to have the largest market share globally, and the firm’s market shares for road rollers, graders and concrete machines are also said by XCMG to rank top in the world.
Jiansen also pointed out to forum attendees that XCMG has more than 110 first-class dealers, 260 service stations and 200 spare parts centres abroad, and exports its products to over 170 countries and regions. He went on to say how XCMG had successfully completed its global layout. The company has acquired three European enterprises including Germany’s Schwing, the leading player in global concrete machinery market, set up production facilities in Brazil, Germany, Austria, India and the US, and owns R&D centres in Germany, Brazil and the US. Jiansen explained how XCMG is now accelerating the construction of CKD (cement kiln dust) plants across the world.
Indonesia ranks first place among ASEAN countries in terms of area, population and economic aggregate, and is a key market for XCMG. Since the export of road rollers, loaders and auto crane products to Indonesia in 1992, XCMG says it has made a remarkable impression on Indonesian markets and helped with the country’s infrastructure construction. At present, XCMG has two local dealers: GMT and CINDO.
In 2014, XCMG’s export of its ultra-large 1,250tonne and 650tonne crawler cranes to Indonesia is said by the Chinese company to have significantly enhanced Indonesian maritime oil mining, held in high regard by the Indonesian government and the country’s people.
In 2013, China’s government proposed the Belt and Road Initiative that covers and will benefit most ASEAN countries. Concurrently, the Initiative will bring unprecedented business opportunities to XCMG and other Chinese businesses both at home and abroad.
Wang Li Ping, Counsellor of Economic and Commercial Counsellor's Office of Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, expressed his hope that ICBC Indonesia and XCMG should take advantage of the unprecedented opportunities created by the Belt and Road initiative by deepening their cooperation in railway, harbour and maritime infrastructure construction and in the industrial chains related to the construction machinery sector.
Dr. Rizal Ramli, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, said Indonesia and China have greater economic cooperation and development space. This year, the Indonesian government has released an array of favourable investment policies, in particular the ones on infrastructure and tourism. Ramli hoped that XCMG and ICBC Indonesia will be able to get more and more projects. He added that there were bright prospects for Sino-Indonesian cooperation.
Shen Xiaoqi, ICBC Indonesia Chairman, said the strategic cooperation not only shows the efforts that ICBC Indonesia and XCMG will be taking in deepening and widening the bank-enterprise cooperation fields and contents, but also demonstrates the great support and the active role of ICBC Indonesia in the development of the Belt and Road initiative and in the infrastructure, economic and social construction of Indonesia.
