7340 XCMG, the Chinese construction and quarrying equipment manufacturing giant, has become an honorary member of the Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Association (MCEA).

The honorary membership was finalised when an MCEA delegation consisting of its president, vice president, secretary general and executive president made a recent visit to XCMG’s HQ in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, eastern China.

Established in 1996, MCEA currently has more than 2,000 member units, covering almost all building enterprise and engineering contractors in Myanmar.

Sun Jianzhong, vice president of XCMG and chairman of XCMG Machinery Import and Export Corporation, met the MCEA delegation. The MCEA party said Myanmar’s largest organisation of its kind was keen have a deep co-operation with one of China's largest construction machinery manufacturing enterprises, to introduce XCMG’s products to each corner of Myanmar.

Liu Jiansen, assistant president of XCMG and general manager of XCMG Machinery Import and Export Corporation, accompanied the delegation on their XCMG HQ tour. After visiting the automobile, excavator, crane, loader, basic construction equipment, and road equipment production bases, all members of the MCEA delegation were said to be greatly impressed by XCMG’s highly automotive and lean production. After the visit, the delegation were said to have unanimously agreed to welcome XCMG as its honorary member, and invited it to attend the MCEA Annual Meeting in Myanmar.

In recent years, Myanmar has gained rapid economic growth, with the GDP growth achieving 8.5%. Its total volume of construction industry has doubled in four years, increasing from US$4.4 billion in 2011 to $8.4 billion in 2015. It is expected that in 2016 the volume will reach $9.8 billion
