A director of Semen Indonesia (SI), is reported as saying that in three years the state cement producer is aiming to be the second or third top supplier of bulk cement in the country.
Presently, the company has the fifth largest market share in the bulk cement market via its unit Varia Usaha Beton.
SI paid IDR 51 billion (€3.4 million/US$3.85 million) to acquire Varia Beton, which produces ready mixed bulk cement for the domestic market.
The national market for bulk cement is at 9.3 million tonnes while SI Group's capacity for bulk cement is at 3.5 million.
