French cement producer 725 Lafarge has launched Le Praktis, its new cement packaging, a bag that can be introduced entirely in the cement mixer without opening it.

Lafarge worked three years with Swedish packaging specialist Billerudkorsnas to develop the bag, which is made of a new type of paper protected by a humidity-resistant covering.

During the blending, the bag is shredded into invisible microfibres that do not alter the cement characteristics.

It is claimed that the new packaging will reduce the arduousness of the work, plus it does not produce any waste, cutting down waste management costs.

The new packaging will be offered on bags of 25 and 35kg of grey cement to be used for classical cement or mortar utilisation, with the exception of slurries, coats and aesthetic works, for which it is recommended to open the bag and pour the cement in the mixer.
