French National Assembly considers tax on recycling construction materials

The French National Assembly is considering a tax on recycling construction materials. It is unclear whether the tax will be specific and concern products that are not recycled or if it will be a general ecological tax for all products. A major concern is recycling construction materials used for roads and buildings. Some 50% of natural construction materials from quarries are used in building roads in France. The figure represents 200 million tonnes per year. Only 20 million tonnes of the total are issued from recycled materials.
