Spain’s Cementos Portland makes deal on job cuts

Spanish cement company , Cementos Portland, is reported to have made an agreement with workers’ unions on the labour force adjustment plan for its concrete, mortar, aggregates and transport division, which will now impact 294 workers, 8% fewer than the originally proposed 318. Spanish cement company , 939 Cementos Portland, is reported to have made an agreement with workers’ unions on the labour force adjustment plan for its concrete, mortar, aggregates and transport division, which will now impact 294 workers, 8% fewer than the originally proposed 318.

At the same time, the company reached a deal on the labour force adjustment plan which will affect administrative staff,  impacting 166 employees, 27% fewer than initially proposed.

In the past year, the company has made collective redundancies of 1,050 staff.

It is reported that the employees aged between 58 and 62 years from the concrete and aggregates division affected by the plan will be paid 30 days per year of service in compensation with 22 monthly payments and a €1,000 flat payment. Those aged between 55 and 57 years will be paid 32 days salary per year of service, with 22 monthly payments and a €2,000 flat payment. Those aged under 55 years will get 33 days wages per year of service with 24 monthly payments and a €5,000 flat payment.
