French construction materials group 725 Lafarge is to exploit a clay quarry in Roullet from 2014. The Berguille site is located less than 10km from Lafarge's factory in La Couronne.

Clay will be extracted from the 23.6hectare site for cement production over a period of 15 years. The Berguille site will gradually replace supplies from the clay quarry in Nersac.

Lafarge will be responsible for roadworks on the RD 910, enabling it to support traffic going to and from the quarry with loaded trucks.

The group plans to create an access zone, tailing pond and facilities for washing tyres at the exit of the site.

The quarry will be entirely closed off, and the surface limestone will be preserved to restore the site over the years for future agricultural use.
