This month marks the 20 year anniversary of one of Weir Minerals’ most iconic brands – the Cavex hydrocyclone.

Hyundai dealer Taylor & Braithwaite, based in Cumbria, in the heart of the Lake District in northwest England, has recently sold its 500th new Hyundai machine since taking on the dealership in 2010. Civil engineering company L&W Wilson, based in Kendal, Cumbria, purchased the machine – a 22tonne R220LC-9A excavator.
To celebrate this milestone T&B offered to donate £500 to the charity of choice for the buyer of the 500th machine. L&W Wilson managing director Alan Wilson chose Cancer Research UK.

HeidelbergCement, the German building materials giant, saw its Q2 2016 year-on-year operating income rise by 8% to €601 million.

New CDE sand & gravel washing plant for Raymond Brown in UK
Final commissioning has been completed on a new CDE modular sand & gravel washing plant at Roke Manor quarry in county Hampshire, southern England.
The site is operated by Raymond Brown who currently have eleven locations across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire. Roke Manor quarry is the latest addition to the group portfolio having been officially opened by Group Chairman, Ron Isaac in November 2014.

CMA gives go ahead for Breedon’s Hope acquisition
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has green lighted Breedon’s £336 million acquisition of Hope Construction Materials.
The competition watchdog approval for the deal follows the CMA’s announcement in April this year that it would consider in detail a remedy proposed by Breedon to resolve competition concerns arising from the proposed acquisition, instead of referring the case for an in-depth merger investigation.

Cemex sales up 6% in Q2 2016 to US$3.7 billion
Cemex, the Mexican building materials giant, increased its year-on-year consolidated net sales by 6% in Q2 2016 to US$3.7 billion. The company’s EBITDA also increased 6% during the quarter to US$771 million versus the same period in 2015.
The increase in consolidated net sales was, says Cemex, due to higher prices of the firm’s products, in local currency terms, in most of its operations, as well as higher sales volumes in Mexico, the United States, and Europe.
