Chicago Pneumatic’s LED light tower
International construction equipment manufacturer Chicago Pneumatic has unveiled its new ultra-bright LED light tower.
The CPLB 6 light tower utilises four 350 W LEDs to provide a lighting efficacy of up to 200lux. By using LEDs rather than conventional halide lights, Chicago Pneumatic says the CPLB 6 light tower is 20% brighter than most standard light towers and can reduce energy use by more than 70%.

A Rockster ‘first’ makes Beijing impact
A recycling project with an impact crusher has been carried out in the centre of the Chinese capital, Beijing, for the first time.
Contractor Beijing Yu Long Environment Protection was selected by the Beijing City Road and Bridge Construction Group to carry out a road project involving the processing of 5,500tonnes of asphalt and rubble, and it used a Rockster impact crusher R700S from the Austrian company.
The material was crushed directly at the jobsite and reused immediately for road construction,
Sandvik Construction extends Rammer range
Sandvik Construction has widened its Rammer product range with the addition of the new Rammer 1655 and 2166 models.
Like the popular Rammer 2577, these two new medium-sized models feature a heavy duty housing, Ramvalve, Ramdata II, VIDAT tie rods and an in-hammer pressure control valve.
The smaller Rammer 1655 has a working weight of 1.08tonnes and is suitable for carriers in the 12- 21tonne class, while the 1.4tonne Rammer 2166 is suitable for carriers ranging from 16-27tonnes.

Caterpillar and Barloworld Power have launched a combined initiative to assemble Cat electric power generators in South Africa to meet rising demand, reduce unit cost and promote localisation.
It is Caterpillar’s first equipment assembly unit in South Africa, and marks a milestone in the partnership between Caterpillar and Barloworld Power, its southern African dealer for Energy and Transportation.

Iran cement production at 20.89 million tonnes in first four months of 2015/16
Iran cement production in the four months of the 2015/16 calendar year (starting 21 March 2015) totalled 20.89mn tonnes, says Abdolreza Sheikhan, secretary of the Iranian Cement Industry Employers. Exports during the same period reached 5.17 million tonnes. For the fourth month (starting 23 July), Iran produced 5.26 million tonnes and exported 653,999 tonnes. Total production and exports in 2014/15 were 66.4 million tonnes and 18.9 million tonnes respectively.
SVCE to complete new Egypt production line by 2017
By 2017, a new production line will be completed by South Valley Cement Company (SVCE) in Egypt that will have an annual capacity of 1.5mn tonnes. Construction work on the new line began in July 2015, and approval for the line has been secured by SVCE from the Industrial Development Authority (IDA). SVCE will invest EGP 1.50bn (EUR 168.31mn USD 191.69mn) in the project.
US cement consumption set to grow
US cement consumption is expected to grow through 2016 and beyond, according to research by Texas-based independent market intelligence firm Industrial Info Resources.
Apparent US consumption of Portland and masonry cement increased 9% to 89.1 million tons in 2014, according to the US Geological Survey.
The Portland Cement Association projects US Portland cement consumption will increase this year by 7.5% and continue to grow in 2016 by 7.9%.
