Ben Bennett Jr has announced its most recent acquisition of a new Bell Equipment L2606E loader

Limestone quarry operation Ben Bennett Jr has purchased a new L2606E loader from 2983 Bell Equipment to replace an existing machine.

The wheeled loader is assigned to loading stock aggregates and plant stone to HGV lorries and dump trucks.

Ben Bennett Jr is a family run UK company founded in 1883, comprising a limestone quarry in Matlock, Derbyshire; a steel rolling mill in Rotherham, Yorkshire; and a junior hacksaw blades manufacturer in Rotherham.

“We needed a machine that would be completely reliable and of a brand that could offer excellent service back-up within close proximity to our quarry operation,” said Andrew Rawson, director at Ben Bennett Jr.

The L2606E is designed to perform within a variety of applications. It features on-board weighing as standard and, by including hydraulic ride control, is intended to increase site safety while affording improved operator comfort and maximum in-load productivity.

Its extra heavy-duty axles are factory approved for solid or PU foam filled L5 pneumatic tyres. Bell says that, by featuring a cyclonic pre-cleaner as standard on the engine, the life of the air filter has the potential to be considerably extended, while extra engine protection is achieved.

The company has a longstanding relationship with Bell going back to the late 1990s when it purchased its first Bell Equipment articulated dump truck – a B25C model.

Since then a succession of Bell machines have operated at the company’s Matlock quarry, extracting calcium carbonate of various grades, including a recycled filler suitable for use in applications such as food, pharmaceuticals, plastics, rubber, glass and sealants.

Three Bell B30E ADTs currently operate onsite, loading material from the Matlock quarry face before transferring it to the primary crusher, as well as relocating waste to the quarry tip.

Bell Equipment UK is based in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, and is part of the global Bell Equipment group headquartered in Richards Bay, South Africa. The company supplies ADTs, wheeled loaders and other related machinery to the waste & recycling, construction, quarrying and mining industries.
