The developers, Agave Ponce, LLC, broke ground on the 210,000m² mixed-use project in September 2018. The entire Plaza Coral Gables project is estimated to cost US$400 million. The development is planned to include offices, residential
apartments, a hotel, retail and parking. Amenities will feature fitness centres, rooftop pools for residents and hotel guests, and ballroom and meeting space.
“The Plaza Coral Gables is a historical development, as it is the largest in the city’s history, which comes with a special responsibility,” said Kirk Light, CEMEX regional president—Florida region. Known as the ‘City Beautiful’, Coral Gables maintains a traditional aesthetic that must be upheld with integrity in the building blocks of this mixed-use, landmark property. CEMEX is proud to supply high-quality materials from our strong Florida network that consists of two active cement plants, five distribution terminals, more than 20 aggregates facilities and nearly 80 ready-mixed plants.”
Phase One of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
“CEMEX is committed to delivering on our operational excellence for The Plaza Coral Gables mixed-use project that is set to be a leading project of its kind in the United States,” said Ignacio Madridejos, president of CEMEX USA. “Our industry expertise combined with our roots in the Coral Gables community will provide value throughout the project’s development and into the life cycle of what will be not only the largest standing building of the ‘City Beautiful,’ but a haven for both visitors and residents.”
