Cemex says it has delivered more than 45,000 cubic yards of ready-mix concrete for two stations of the Brightline intercity rail service in Florida. This delivery provided foundations for on-site parking, new apartments and nearby businesses.
Brightline, a privately owned service, connects residents and tourists travelling between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale and Miami stations.
Ignacio Madridejos, president of Cemex USA, says: “Residents in Florida will now be able to travel more quickly, safely and efficiently between major cities in the area.”
For the first phase of the project, Cemex used high-strength mix designs at both stations. Skidmore, Owings and Merrill designed the stations in collaboration with Zyscovich Architects.
Brightline, expected to be expanded to Orlando and Tampa, has entered into a partnership with Virgin and will rename its trains to Virgin Trains USA this year.
Kirk Light, Cemex's regional president—Florida Region, says the company’s facilities in Florida will deliver customer experience when the project is ready to be expanded throughout the state.
