Cemex USA to supply concrete and aggregates for bridge in Los Angeles

March 29, 2019

Cemex USA expects to provide 45,000 cubic yards of ready-mix concrete, including 6,300 cubic yards of specialised self-consolidating mix concrete, for the Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement bridge in Los Angeles.

The company says it also anticipates supplying 67,000 tonnes of aggregates for the project, valued $482 million.

The 3,500-foot bridge serves as a transportation link across the Los Angeles River to connect Boyle Heights with the Arts District.

Once complete, the new viaduct is expected to have ten pairs of lit arches along the stairway access and bike ramps.

Bryan Forgey, Cemex USA vice president/general manager ready-mix—Southern California, says: “Cemex is deeply rooted in Southern California. Materials we produce here, stay here, so we can build a better future for our families, neighbours and communities.”

The project is mainly covered by federal and state funding and is scheduled to be completed in late 2020.
