NCC has announced it has acquired the asphalt and paving business of Finland-based infrastructure company Destia, which will make NCC the second largest asphalt company in Finland.

Destia sale raised in Finland:

According to Finnish broadcasting company Yleisradio's News, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Policy has discussed the sale of infrastructure company Destia. Parliament granted authorisation for the sale of Destia shares in 2011, but stated at that time that the state must continue to hold a significant majority in Destia.

NCC introduces new Nordic organisation for NCC Roads

Swedish construction company NCC is introducing a new Nordic organisation for its business area NCC Roads. Instead of the current country-based organisation, NCC Roads will divide its operations into three divisions: Asphalt, Stone Materials and Road Services.

The new organisation is part of the company's strategy to optimise its customer offering, says Göran Landgren, business area manager for NCC Roads.

NCC's green asphalt cuts carbon

Sweden-based construction business NCC reduced carbon emissions from its asphalt operations by 9,500tonnes last year through use of greener methods. The company achieved this through greater levels of recycling and larger production of environmentally-friendly asphalt. NCC has reported that it recycled 670,000tonnes of asphalt last year – a 13% rise on 2009 levels – and it also said demand for eco-friendly asphalt was rising too.
