French mineral-based construction material sales rise during Q1 2014

1850 Unicem, the French national union of quarries and construction materials, says that sales of ready-mixed concrete rose by 5.4% during the first quarter of 2014, while sales of aggregates rose by 10.4%.

A study reveals that ready-mixed concrete sales were down 1% in comparison to February 2014 and up 3.6% on a year earlier.

Aggregate sales rose 1.7% compared to February and 9.4% compared to March 2013. Between the final quarter of 2013 and first quarter of 2014, ready-mixed concrete sales rose by 0.3%, while aggregate sales increased by 3.2% thanks to active public works projects in certain regions and favourable weather conditions.

There was a 9.8% rise in construction projects for non-residential activity while public works were up 4% in February 2014 compared to a year earlier and up 2.62.6% during the first two months of 2014.
