Cooper joins the carbon capture, sustainable construction products and waste treatment specialist from Tarmac, where he was their UK and Ireland sustainability director. Before that, he ran Tarmac's lime business in Buxton (the largest in the UK), bringing considerable business and industry experience.
A chemical engineer by background, Cooper's 17 years at Tarmac saw him undertake various roles within its Cement and Lime division, including operations, project management, and commercial and general management. More recently, he has been heavily involved in decarbonisation and sustainability, making a great fit for us as leaders in carbon capture and sustainable construction products.
Cooper's appointment will strengthen the O.C.O. board and management team as the UK business is looking to double in size in the next few years through a £25m capital investment program. This coincides with Steve Greig assuming the position of chief executive officer. Whilst Greig will continue to be involved in the UK business, Cooper's position as UK MD will enable Steve to accelerate our overseas development and expansion – where we currently have live projects across four continents – Europe, Asia, North America and Australia.
Cooper says: "I'm delighted to join an O.C.O. team full of fantastic people. This is a business with great technology but, more importantly, real purpose, and I look forward to being part of a very exciting future."
Greig said of the appointment: "Graham's background, experience and personality are a great fit for our business at a time when we are investing and expanding our UK business to double its capacity over the next few years. The international demand for our technology is exciting, and having Graham on board allows us to focus on delivering these projects."
