Articulated dump truck driver killed in accident at Montana rock quarry

October 24, 2018

A dump truck driver working for Montana Rockworks died in a vehicle crash at a rock quarry near McGregor Lake on Friday night, says the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

A report by Daily Inter Lake says sheriff Chuck Curry identified the victim as Jerry Baller, a 63-year-old from Columbia.

Baller was operating an articulated dump truck at the quarry when it crashed, but Curry says it remains unclear whether a medical event or crash caused his death.

The time of death is unknown, but someone found Baller and reported the incident at approximately 10:30 pm.

Baller’s body was sent to the Montana State Crime Lab for an autopsy on Monday and the case is being investigated, the report adds.
